UPCOMING EVENTS

Here are the next events coming soon to the March Field Air Museum. Reach for the Skies! For a more complete listing of events or for more details about those noted below, please visit the CALENDAR page on this website.

Join us Friday evening, October 26, 2018, for our elegant signature fundraising event, “Champions of Flight.” The first-ever Champions of Flight award will honor Bob Gilliland, the chief “Skunk Works” test pilot who in 1964 piloted the first successful flight of the futuristic SR-71 Blackbird at Southern California’s Edwards Air Force Base. To this day, the SR-71 holds the distinction of being the world’s fastest air-breathing, manned aircraft! Bob Gilliland would go on to log more test flight hours at Mach 3 than any other pilot in the world.

Proceeds will support the museum’s facilities, programs and exhibits for the community to appreciate now and for generations to follow. This fundraising event takes place Friday, October 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Event Tickets cost $75 per person, or $600 for a table of eight, with special discounts for Museum members. To purchase tickets beginning in September, please visit www.marchfield.org/upcoming-events or call our ticket order line 951-902-5182 Tuesday-Sunday during business hours.

Up-Close Aircraft Day

Saturday, September 8th

Vietnam War

Attack Fighter

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The March Field Air Museum's “Up-Close Aircraft Day” for September will feature the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, the largest single-seat, single-engine combat aircraft ever when it entered service in the 1950s. It could exceed the speed of sound at sea level, and reach Mach 2 at high altitudes while carrying up to 14,000 lbs. of bombs and missiles. In spite of a troubled early service life, the F-105 became the dominant attack aircraft early in the Vietnam War and flew over 20,000 sorties. Click on the aircraft image for more details!

Every second Saturday through 2018, a different aircraft is featured monthly during "Up-Close Aircraft Days" at the March Field Air Museum! Guests have the opportunity for a close look – sometimes climbing stairs to see directly into the cargo bay or cockpit, other times even climbing aboard. The new Up-Close Aircraft Days takes place every second Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Included with regular museum admission.

Saturday, September 15
