Mission Inn Hotel and Spa
Located on Mission Inn Avenue between Orange and Main in Downtown Riverside. Voted “Best Historic Hotel in America” for 2016, this storied and unique hotel occupies an entire city block. Founder Frank Miller played a big role in getting the U.S. Army to designate a nearby airstrip (today’s March Air Reserve Base) as a military aviation training facility beginning in 1918. Stay overnight, enjoy a meal at one of its restaurants, and marvel at the architecture, artwork, and artifacts on display throughout this National Historic Landmark. Don’t miss the Aviator’s Wall, adjacent to St. Francis’ Chapel and named for the patron saint of “birds and birdmen.”
