Minuteman II missile installation

On February 25, 1999, the museum installed the Minuteman II missile in front of the museum near the flagpoles.    The colorful appearance on the left is due to paint removal that was done prior to a new coat of grey primer, as shown in the center.  The completed final white coat , as of  June, 1999, is shown on the right.  The missile had stood for more than 35 years at the left side of the main road just after going through the old main gate at March Air Force Base.  Due to the downsizing of military bases, the part of the base that had contained the missile display is being turned over to civilian use.

In the above photo taken on November 25th, 2001, the Minuteman II missile, a Navy SNJ-4, and a T-38 are displayed in front of the museum.
